HR-White™ (pure 4-Hexylresorcinol), is an alkylresorcinol with many skin benefits:
(Please see research papers in the attachment)
Popularly called Synovea HR. This product isn't manufacturer by the manufacture of Synovea HR, but with identical chemical structure
Mechanisms of Action:
-
Melanogenic Inhibition:
- 4-HR is a potent inhibitor of tyrosinase, an enzyme critical for melanin synthesis. By binding to tyrosinase, it competes with the natural substrate, L-tyrosine, thus preventing the enzymatic conversion of L-tyrosine to L-DOPA and subsequently to DOPAquinone.
- It is more effective than other known inhibitors like hydroquinone, kojic acid, and licorice extract, making it highly valuable in products aimed at reducing hyperpigmentation and evening skin tone.
-
Antioxidant Properties:
- 4-HR mitigates oxidative stress, a major factor in both intrinsic and extrinsic skin aging caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) from UV radiation.
- It enhances the activities of antioxidants such as Glutathione (GSH), Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX), and Glutathione Reductase (GR), reducing oxidative damage and DNA damage in skin cells.
- Its phenolic structure allows it to donate protons to free radicals, effectively scavenging peroxyl radicals and superoxide anions, thus preventing lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation.
-
Anti-Glycation:
- Glycation is a non-enzymatic reaction where sugars attach to proteins, forming Advanced Glycation End-Products (AGEs), which contribute to skin aging.
- 4-HR inhibits the formation of Maillard reaction products (a type of AGE), and its antioxidant activity further limits glycation-related protein cross-linking and damage.
-
Anti-inflammatory Effects:
- 4-HR inhibits NF-kB, a key transcription factor in inflammation. By blocking NF-kB activation, it reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators like iNOS, COX-2, TNF-α, and IL-1β.
- This inhibition also correlates with increased expression of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, contributing to improved skin structure and reduced photoaging.
The formula should contain Disodium EDTA 0.1% to help prevent discoloration
Usage: Ingredients in any whitening formulation
Mixing method: Soluble in Glycol (not soluble in water) With a temperature not exceeding 80 degrees in a short time. and therefore added to the main recipe
Usage rate: 0.1-1%
Product characteristics: Off-white to pale yellow powder, may form soft lump
Solubility: Can dissolve in any type of Glycol, dimethyl isosorbide, esters
Storage: Shelf life: 24 months, stored at cold temperature. Avoid sunlight and heat.
INCI Name : Hexylresorcinol
