Trihydroxystearin
- Product Code: 6942
It provides a thixotropic thickening (meaning when shear force is applied, the viscosity of the substance decreases, but when the force is stopped, the viscosity returns to its original state) flow characteristic which is suitable for all types of cosmetics, especially any type of make-up.

Trihydroxystearin provides a thixotropic thickening (meaning when shear force is applied, the viscosity of the substance decreases, but when the force is removed, the viscosity returns to its original state) flow characteristic that is suitable for all types of cosmetics, especially any type of make-up.
Trihydroxystearin is used in the following formulations:
- water-in-oil to help improve formula stability by increasing the viscosity of the oil phase
- Increase the pay-off efficiency of color in any color-cosmetics.
- Acts as a binder in pressed-powder formulations.
- Oil thickener provides thickness to oil.
Mixing: The temperature must be controlled to be between 65-100 degrees. When the mixture is blended until thick, turn off the heat and blend until cooled. The thickness obtained depends on the temperature level that is warmed during the blending to disperse in the formula.
An example of Trihydroxystearin's use is as an oil thickener in lip gloss formulas to help prevent pigment from settling.
Use: As a thickener to create a gel texture for oils or silicones (including low polar solvents).
Method of mixing: Mix in oil, stir to disperse, use heat to help dissolve 80-100 degrees.
Usage rate: 0.1-10% depending on the desired viscosity.
Product characteristics: White-light colored powder
Dissolution: Disperse in formula
Storage: Can be stored at room temperature, but close the bottle tightly and keep away from sunlight or heat. The product has a shelf life of at least 2 years.
