Product Description:
Doxorubicin hydrochloride is widely used in the treatment of various types of cancer. It is particularly effective against breast cancer, bladder cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, lymphoma, and acute lymphocytic leukemia. The drug works by intercalating DNA, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acids and ultimately preventing the growth of cancer cells. It is often administered intravenously as part of combination chemotherapy regimens to enhance its efficacy and reduce the risk of drug resistance. Despite its effectiveness, the use of doxorubicin hydrochloride is carefully monitored due to its potential cardiotoxicity, which can lead to severe heart damage with prolonged use. To mitigate this risk, liposomal formulations of the drug have been developed to target cancer cells more precisely and reduce exposure to healthy tissues. Additionally, it is sometimes used in adjuvant therapy to eliminate any remaining cancer cells after primary treatments like surgery or radiation.
